This terrible story could be about any of our friends, brothers, employees or kids.  We need your help immediately.

Devastating accidents can happen to any of us. Sometimes the thought enters our minds but we brush it off and move on with our day. Imagine if you woke up tomorrow and you couldn’t move your arm to turn off your alarm, simply get up out of bed to take a shower, reach out and pull your children into your arms to cuddle them. That nightmare has happened to an important member of our community. On September 14, 2013, Billy Keenan had a catastrophic surfing accident suffering severe spinal injuries leaving him unable to use his arms or legs, requiring assistance 24 hours a day.

Billy’s family needs your help now.

Billy is a husband, a dad, a high-school teacher, a talented entertainer and a great friend to countless people. He has touched so many people’s lives and now we are trying to do the same for his family during their time of need. We have created the #KeenanStrong organization to help relieve some of the hardship for Billy and his family. Our goal is to simply make their lives easier in any way possible. We are asking for your help, and in particular your financial support.

#KeenanStrong will sponsor a fund raising concert series for Billy and his family in Rockland, Yonkers and Long Island during the first weekend of May 2014. But now we need your help with donations in terms of gift certificates or prizes which could be raffled or auctioned (e.g. home electronics, vacation home rentals, signed sports memorabilia). Billy never hesitated to give back to his community and country; now is our time to give back to his family.

A proud Irish-American, Billy was born in the Bronx and raised in Rockland County. After graduating from  Albertus Magnus High School & Fordham University, Billy served his country overseas as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. But his passions were his family, his music and teaching. Making a home in New City with his wife Noreen Martin and sons, Patrick (13) and Kieran (12), Billy taught history at North Rockland High School until his accident. Billy has played Irish music since he was able to hold a tin whistle. He was the lead singer in The Summerwind Band as well as the Prime Time Showband playing countless area venues and weddings over the years.

Now is the time to help, when the Keenan's need it most.

Billy’s medical needs are staggering and the loss of income is devastating for their family future.  The Keenan’s need your support immediately. No donation is too small, or too large.  This is the type of deeply personal cause any business should want their name associated with; corporate and business donations are especially welcome and will be highlighted on our website and during our events.

Billy is working hard to get stronger every day for his family. We need to work hard for them right now. You can make a donation by clicking “donate” located on the home page.  Please mail any prizes or checks made out to Billy Keenan to 169 S. Main Street # 397, New City, NY  10956.  Contact us at help@keenanstrong.org with any questions.  Please be generous.

Thank you in advance for your donations, your thoughts and your prayers.
